The 8th day in New Zealand

Day 8
Saturday 08 November 2003
Hahei (Whitianga)

We continued our route along the coast towards Coromandel. We felt like beeing in the
australian outback when we reached Coromandel. The countryside, the buildings, the atmosphere, everything would fit well to Australia. Frank needed some medicine
because he felt like getting a sorethroat. After a short stop at the pharmacy
we decided to take a desert road to Hahei (Whitianga) where we wanted to stay this night at a campground which was recommended to us by Werner and Birgit.
After we stopped several times for short walks we reached our destination in the afternoon
and decided to stay here for a few days. The next days we spent at Hahei Beach
and visited Cathedral Coves. Together with a family with two kids from Flensburg/Germany
which we met here we learnd to know Hot Water Beach.
That means: dig a hole into the sand and enjoy 60°C hot water.
